Ferry SFK

Marimecs is proud to be part of the development of the new Hybrid ferries for Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK).
The contract is awarded to Holland Shipyards after a earlier submitted tender, the most appealing ship design in combination with the best hybrid drive train where  the main factors to decide for our proposal.

The new plug in hybrid ferry will be delivered in spring 2020. Some of the ferries currently used in the port are 35 years old and have diesel engines regarded as too environmentally unfriendly.
The new vessel, named Gaarden, will have electric engines powered by two generators in combination with batteries.

For this project Marimecs is responsible for the full design, including Exterior design, Naval Architecture, General Arrangement and engineering of the complete ship structure.
