Concept design

One of the most interesting challenges is the development of a new vessel that will suit the ship owner. The bases always is the use of the vessel and sailing- area conditions, described in a design brief and functional breakdown that will be produced in close cooperation with the ship owner. The concept design of commercial ships often calls for innovative solutions.

After the initial ship design concept has been established, the followed step is a full set of hydrodynamic and structural analysis, using specialized software, and in some cases model testing for resistance and sea-keeping behavior. On request Marimecs can provide the selection of a suitable shipyard, major equipment and supervision during the actual building process, including commissioning. Apart from the executing of an entire new design Marimecs can also be a part of the ship owners and builders design team.

Basic & detail engineering

Apart from design and naval architecture, we supply accompanying detail engineering for ship constructions and piping systems on board yachts and commercial ship. Marimecs takes much pleasure and pride in developing creative one-off solutions for challenging technical demands of custom niche vessels in both industries.

Conversions & modifications

With long-time experience in both super yachts and special commercial craft, one of Marimecs specialisms is the conversion of commercial craft into super yachts. Additionally, the team is no stranger to extensive super yacht conversions that extend the useful life of super yachts for demanding high-end yacht owners, as well as conversions of commercial craft for a longer and/or different operational life.

We continuously strive for cost-efficient and aesthetically pleasing results. With these combined experiences in the marine industry we always find the fitting practical solution that best suits the client’s demands and wishes for future use and enjoyment of the vessel.

Tools & process

Software

At marimecs we are able to work in various software packages, including but not limited to: MaxSurf, Swift-Craft, Autocad, Ship-Constructor, OpenFoam, Rhino and some smaller in-house developed software for various calculations and conformance checks.

Communication

We are well-experienced in working with extended design and project teams for larger projects, including the necessary flexibility and information exchange and communication.

Class approved

Marimecs works according to the rules and regulations of international Classification Societies such as Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Flag State specific regulations is our daily practice.
